The reductions include National Climate Assessment work and other climate programs.
President Donald Trump’s administration has eliminated contracts related to federal climate research. The White House Office of Management and Budget and Office of Science and Technology coordinated with the U.S. DOGE Service on ending the contract for the National Climate Assessment.
NASA confirmed it canceled its agreement with contractor ICF and is reviewing another involving the National Academies, as part of efforts to align with an executive order and streamline involvement in the U.S. Global Change Research Program—a collaboration of 15 federal agencies.
“In compliance with an Executive Order, NASA is streamlining its support for the U.S. Global Change Research Program, which it manages on behalf of 15 agencies,” stated NASA spokesperson Amber Jacobson.
The program was established by Congress in 1990 to provide scientific assessments about how climate change affects the United States.
